Four studies by an international team of authors present the general circumstances of forced service in the Wehrmacht, the attitude of the Nazi military justice towards deserters, the applications of the POWs from the Wehrmacht to the Czechoslovak army-in-exile, and the efforts of Czechoslovak officers to remedy the effects of Nazi propaganda and ideology on young soldiers. Finally, an interview with Richard Wadani, a leading Czech-Austrian activist for post-war recognition of deserters from the Nazi army, is included.
